Sexual Health

Develop Strategic leadership and Planning around the delivery of improved Sexual health outcomes.

Activities

  • Support the delivery of NHS Highland’s sexual health strategy and action plan:
    • Review evidence and policy.
    • Support a self-assessment against Sexual Health Standards.
    • Develop and implement a robust data collection framework.
    • Undertake a mapping exercise of support services.
    • Develop a Sexual Health action plan of priorities.

  • Develop a Community approach to RSHP delivery.
  • Support the delivery of training to improve Educators confidence in RSHP delivery.

  • Promote and monitor uptake of TURAS Sexual Health Modules.
  • Develop a program of support for Parents.

Improve access to Free Condoms and STI Testing.

  • Review and develop condom distribution schemes across NHS Highland and develop an accessible framework for adults at risk and young people.
  • Stock, distribute and audit condom distribution within North Highland.
  • Review provision of postal home self-sampling STI tests.

Improve access to and uptake of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception.

Activities

  • Review LARC prescribing rates across NHS Highland and develop an accessible framework.
  • Develop and deliver a pilot for increasing uptake of contraception in post-partum period.
  • Ensure choice and timely access to postnatal contraception following birth.
  • Improve and promote postnatal contraception education for frontline staff.
  • Improve and promote contraceptive antenatal education during pregnancy.
  • Collaborate with maternity and sexual health services to ensure healthcare professionals are trained in Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) within maternity care setting.
  • Investigate and improve routine data, including auditing and reporting on project data.
