Reduction in inequalities in screening participation

Objective(s)

Implement NHS Highland’s Screening Inequality Action Plan 2023 – 2026.

Activities

  • All Screening Programmes:
    • Lead on the development, deliver and annual review of NHS Highland’s screening inequalities plan: to address barriers to screening experienced by underserved groups. 

Governance

  • Public Health Screening Delivery Group.
  • Local screening programmes multidisciplinary steering groups.
  • Population Health Programme group.

Performance Measures/Outcomes

  • National KPIs and outcomes set out in NHS Highland’s Screening Inequalities plan 2023-26.

Objective(s)

Demonstrate an improvement of data metrics for the national newborn bloodspot screening programme for NHS Highland.

  • Research and develop a Standard Operational Procedure for Highland HSCP.
  • Develop, promote and share best practice tools with relevant maternity and paediatric staff.

Performance Measures/Outcomes

  • Reduction in avoidable repeats for new-born screening.
  • Increase in access for screening for children (movers in) under the age of 1.
  • Timely process and transit of samples to Glasgow laboratory.
