Activities
- Deliver a highly skilled Infant Feeding Support Worker service to support breastfeeding, working with maternity, HV and FNP services and targeted to support reducing inequalities.
- To provide a 365 day a year volunteer peer support service including phone, face to face, group support and support through a specialist and moderated facebook page.
- Deliver a specialist breastfeeding clinic.
- Deliver a programme of work to reduce formula supplementation as part of the National PfG workstream and increase exclusive breastfeeding.
- Implement the National Breastfeeding Scheme across NHS Highland.
- Deliver Unicef BFI mandatory training to all staff who have contact with pregnant or breastfeeding women within the NHS Highland area.
- Implement UNICEF BFI standards in NHS Highland through a wide programme of work including training, policy development and audit.

Performance Measures/Outcomes
- Number of breastfeeding scheme participants throughout NHSH.
- Number of women attending specialist clinic and outcomes for feeding.
- Audit numbers of women who consent to a volunteer breastfeeding peer supporter.
- Number of women who supplement with formula in the maternity unit.
