Supportive pathways workshop

Today, Thursday 8th February 2018, saw a multi-agency “supportive pathways workshop” hosted by colleagues in Police Scotland.

As a group, we looked at root causes of offending, considered what organisations and services are out there to support people with the issues identified, then hardest of all, thought about what we need to do to make people who are taken into custody feel more supported, and guided to appropriate initiatives/groups. Everyone learned from each other, and perhaps most powerful of all was input of real life experiences from Serenity and Apex Scotland staff. Serenity provide a drop in service for females with Borderline Personality Disorder. Apex Scotland’s work is about reducing re-offending, promoting desistance; which is defined as cessation of offending or other antisocial behavior, tackling deprivation and making communities safer.

It’s great to be involved in the start of this work, and to hear first hand how some initiatives like Serenity and Apex can turn things around for people.
