34th national No Smoking Day

Today is the 34th national No Smoking Day! This year’s theme is all about #tellusyourway, encouraging people to share their experiences of stopping smoking, to inspire others. This is a great time to begin your stop smoking journey. Various events are being held across the Highlands by local advisers. In Inverness College UHI, the Access to Nursing students, currently studying Human Body NC, have been learning about the effects of smoking on health.

Today, the students are providing information and advice at this stall set up in Inverness College by the Highlands and Islands Student Association (HISA) and NHS Highland. HISA were able to get lots of resources to interest students and staff alike. There’s also information about the Highland Smoke Free Service, our Smoke Free Homes and Cars challenge, further details of which can be found on the Smokefree Highland website. Also the stall was promoting ASH Scotland’s current campaign #notafavour, which highlights the problem of proxy purchasing of tobacco for young people.
